How do I sign up for a free trial?
Go to our sign up page to get started. We require minimal information in the sign up process, so you'll get started in no time. If you don't like what you find, you can cancel at any time.

What do I get with my free trial?
You receive access to use OpenPad to create pages and publish Web pages, RSS feeds, marketing emails, and Podcasts. Your pages can include video, text, Flash and images. We also provide you with free web-space to publish your pages. To publish your pages to your own Web server or use your own domain name, you must upgrade to a paid account.

Will I ever be billed for service?
OpenPad is free for a limited time, so you will not be billed or charged for service until you upgrade to a paid account. OpenPad service packages start for as low as $6.99 per month. Please see the pricing page for details.

Can I publish to my own server from a free trial account?
No. You must upgrade to a paid account to publish your site to your own Web server.

Is there a cost to host my website during the free trial?
When you sign up for OpenPad we provide you with free web-space to publish your pages. These pages reside at a unique sub-folder at http://sites.open-pad.com. Once your free trial period ends, or you cancel your account the materials you have published to your free web hosting account will be deleted.  

If you sign up for a paid OpenPad account you will continue to receive free hosting until you configure your account to publish pages to your own server.   Once you begin to publish pages to your own server you will no longer have access to use our free web hosting service.

Do you allow more than one free trial period?
You can sign up for only one free trial account. Once you free trial expires you are not eligible for another free trial.

What happens when my free trial expires?
Once the free trial ends you have 25 days to sign up for service before your work is deleted from our servers. If your free trial has expired and less than 25 days have lapsed, please use the Contact page to request that we reactivate your account.

How do I sign up for paid service?
You can sign up for a paid service at any time by upgrading your free trial account to a paid service package. There's no long-term contract (it's just month-to-month) and you can cancel at any time. To sign up for a paid service package log in to your OpenPad account, go to the Site menu and select Upgrade Free Trial.

Do I have to sign a contract when I sign up?
No, everything is month-to-month. If you cancel you will be charged for the current month, but you won't be billed again.

Yes, we can provide reseller agreements to suitable partners. Please contact us for more information.

Can I change my service package at any time?
Yes, and it's really easy. Once you log in simply click on the "Site" menu and the select "Edit Site Properties". Select your site and click "Edit" and then "Change Service Package". We'll never charge you a "set-up" or extra "one-time" fee when you upgrade.

How do you count the pages in my site service package?
Every page, content module and template you create in your site is included in your page count. If you want to create more pages, you may always upgrade your service package.

What happens if I downgrade my service plan?
You must reduce the number of pages saved in your account to not exceed the pages allowed in your selected service package. Once you have done this, log in and go to "Site", select "Edit Sites Properties". A pop-up window will appear, click "Edit" and then select "Change Service Package". The new rate will go into effect on your next billing cycle.

What type of payment do you accept? Will you take a P.O? Can you invoice me?
Currently we accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. At this time we only accept payments online so we will not be able to accept a P.O., invoice you, or take an order over the phone.

Does OpenPad charge sales tax?
OpenPad is a New York company, and so we charge sales tax to customers who use a New York billing address.

When do you charge my credit card?
We charge your credit card as soon as you sign up for a paid service package. If you sign up after the 1st of the month we charge for the remainder of the month. Thereafter on the 1st of every month we charge your credit card for the following month of service until you deactivate your account.

Do I get a refund if I cancel my account before the end of the month?
We do not refund amounts paid. If you cancel a paid service package in the first month of service you will only be charged from the date of sign up until the end of the first month of service.

Can I host my site with OpenPad?
Yes, you can host your site with OpenPad. We provide free web-space for your OpenPad account. If you want to host with OpenPad using your own domain name we will charge a monthly Web hosting fee. Please contact us for details.

How do I close my account?
You can cancel at any time by logging in and selecting "Site" and then clicking on "Edit Site Properties". Go to the "Deactivate Site" tab, select your site and click the "Deactivate" button.

What do I need to get started?
To use OpenPad you will need to have Internet access, and a current version of Firefox or Internet Explorer running on a Windows PC or a Macintosh. You will also need image editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Express, or splashup.com to size and edit your images before uploading them to the OpenPad page editor.

Do I need to install OpenPad on my desktop?
No, OpenPad runs in your Web browser. There is no installation process and no software to download to your desktop. OpenPad is available from any computer with Internet access and a current Web browser.

Does OpenPad put a logo on my website?
When using OpenPad's free Web hosting, or the free trial offer we place a small OpenPad logo and link at the bottom pages published with OpenPad. Once you pay for OpenPad and publish pages to your own web server we do not put our logo and link on your pages.

What other software do I need to use with OpenPad?
OpenPad is a page editor and publishing platform. We do not provide image editing capability. You will need image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Express, or splashup.com to size your images before uploading the graphic files to OpenPad.

Yes, you can resize your images in OpenPad, however for the best results you should edit or resize your images before you upload them to OpenPad using image editing software such as the desktop applications Adobe Photoshop or Google Picassa.  You may also use web-based photo editing software Photoshop Express, or splashup.com.  You will need to save the images to your desktop before you upload them to OpenPad.

Is OpenPad secure and private?
We take precautions to protect our customer's information. The OpenPad server is as secure as we can reasonably provide. We use a state of the art facility with power and Internet backup. Your site is password protected, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone. While we offer safe guards to protect your data, please keep in mind that we cannot offer 100% security.
